<p>When such a high percentage of the people are overweight it seems fitting that there is significant number of the population who are extremely image conscious. As a result, gyms, health spas and other fitness centers have proliferated all over to cater to the needs of the fitness and body conscious enthusiasts.</p>
<p>Although to be honest, trying to avoid the subject is not easy with amount of advertising that goes on to promote diet fitness. But on the flip side of that coin is the importance of heating healthily and maintaining a weight to suit our size and shape. It is the food we eat in our diet and fitness program that will encourage a healthy body, as exercise will not restore damaged muscles or keep you healthy. What does not help the average person is what diet-fitness regime to follow as both seem to make sense; there is the one that says eat foods with high carbohydrate levels and the other which says you need to eat foods with a high fat content which appears to contradict everything we are told about dieting.</p>
<p>To understand this better you need to know that the high-carbohydrate followers believe that you need to eat foods rich in carbohydrates to exercise well and the opposition believe you need to consume foods high in fat. Those followers of eating foods with high carbohydrate content believe these are best owing to the amount of energy that can be stored in the muscles ready for instant release.</p>
<p>Whereas, fat is a rich source of calories with two and a half times more than proteins and carbohydrates while fat metabolizes in an eighth of the time it does for carbohydrates. <p>We usually associate eating with obesity. But eating per se is not the culprit. The real root cause is poor eating habits. One example is eating more and burning less. Our sedentary modern lifestyle encourages us to eat more yet exercise less. Another example is eating too much processed foods and meats and too less fruits and vegetables. Poor eating habits also include not eating at all. This type of habit is usually associated with those who want to lose weight. <p>But balance is not so easily determined and achieved. Human beings are supposed to eat fresh vegetables, meats and fish, all in balance, in order to keep a healthy weight. The modern diet does not allow us the luxury to really be aware of what we are consuming each day -we&#8217;ve lost the balance and the natural sense to eat what our body really needs.</p>
<p>Having a diet plan that works should involve having absolute knowledge of the food we eat every day. The first step to being healthy is eating healthy. This is perhaps the easiest way to maintain consistent weight loss and a high standard of health.</p>
