The thing is, however, the satisfaction lasts only until that last crumb touches your tongue, or until you feel bloated with all that junk you just so willingly admitted to your body system. And as for its long-term effects, well, that is another story. Why don’t we try and take a look at a few issues you just might end up encountering, in trade for that glazed donut or cheese-and-bacon-bits-topped potato wedges, and see if it should still be so difficult to resist unhealthy food?

Delectable food, no matter how unhealthy, is pretty hard to resist and sometimes, the taste buds just keep sending memories of how good it tastes to your brain. The next thing you know, you’re giving in and munching on that zero-nutrition platter with a smile on your face.
1. Obesity. The accumulation of body fat in excess of the daily dietary requirement is actually as bad as it sounds, causing the likeability of acquiring heart disease, having difficulty in breathing and sleeping, and many other complications. It may be one of the leading causes of death worldwide, but it may be prevented. In addition to physical exercise, a great deal of discipline and willingness to avoid the unnecessary intake of oil, fat and excess calories will be of great benefit. So close your eyes, take a deep breath and ditch that double patty burger, and forget about that extra serving of mayo.

2. Colon Blockage. Junk food often has little to zero fiber, and fiber being a mainstay in our digestive system’s process of “disposing waste”, the consumption of too many low (or no) fiber foods actually may lead to the blockage in the colon. Most people with irregular bowel movement may mistake this as just constipation until it carries on for days and they start experiencing severe abdominal pains. Colon blockages not only cause rectal pain, hemorrhoids and other discomfort, but may actually lead to bad breath and skin problems over time due to the body’s process of ridding itself of the toxins released into the blood stream as a result of the inability of the colon to expel waste. So trade that chips and curls for some orange wedges, bagels and other high-fiber foods.

3. A Plethora of Other Diseases, Shorter Life Span in General. Junk food actually aids the onset of cardiovascular diseases and the ever-deadly Cancer, amongst other things, making your health significantly worse over a period of time.

With all these in mind, there’s a better reason to turn around and just avoid those mouth-watering but illness-packed delicacies. Ask yourself: How difficult is a moment’s pain in trade for a lifetime of pleasure?
