Colon Cleansing Diet: For Longer Life
The colon is, at times, not really being paid that much attention to. It is just seen as a means to be able to eliminate waste. That’s it. This same reason should be reason enough to regard it as a very important part of the body that needs to be maintained to be able to function to its optimum level without any problem, otherwise, our body will be poisoned by the toxins that are supposed to be eliminated by our body but, for some reason, since the colon is not functioning properly, are not eliminated at all.
A lot of you would agree that death begins in the colon. Why? According to the Vegetarian Times in their publication last March, 1998, “Death begins in the colon. Don’t believe it? Ask any coroner. Autopsies often reveal colons that are plugged up to eighty (80) percent with waste material.” This fact alone makes it necessary for anyone to be on a colon cleansing diet periodically to ensure a healthy digestive system.
What can a colon cleanse diet do? Generally speaking, colon cleansing is a process wherein the digestive system is being cleansed from all toxins. It involves introducing small amounts of water into the large intestine to enable the washing away of toxins and other waste matter more efficient. A colon diet would usually involve more than the usual amount of water we normally ingest. If we need to take about 8 glasses of water daily, when you are on a colon cleanser diet, you would need to drink at least 10 glasses of water a day to ensure that you do not get dehydrated.
Being able to preserve colon health is imperative. Period. Having a contaminated colon will adversely affect the body’s ability to dispose of the toxins that can lead to other medical conditions, like diarrhea, constipation, skin problems, digestive disorders, fatigue, and worse, the life-threatening disease colon cancer, which is said to be the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States.
A normal colon health diet normally includes foods high in fiber. Fiber cannot be digested by the human body, hence, they act as sweepers of the digestive tract. They can, therefore, correct disorders related to the colon and maintain its healthy functioning. It is imperative that a balanced diet, though, is going to be followed. Do not take too much fiber since it can interfere with the absorption of copper, calcium, selenium, zinc, and magnesium. Taking in high-fiber diets along with a balanced food selection is the best combination for a colon detox diet.
Without the colon, the process of digestion will not be complete. Take good care of it. Your life depends on it.

Eating healthy does not have to be complicated nor difficult. After you begin making healthy choices, and make it a habit, you don’t have to think about it again. Just have healthy food choices always available and the decision will be easy.
When considering a meal or a snack, always strive for a proper balance between a protein, carbohydrate and fat.
Have you determined for yourself your daily caloric consumption needs? I know that for myself if I’m trying to lose wight, I cannot consume more than 1200 calories per day. On the other hand, if I’m trying to maintain my current weight, I’m allow to consumer 1500 calories per day.
After you determine how many calories you should be consuming, you then need to divide the calories out over 5-6 small meals/snacks throughout the day. Don’t forget to compliment each meal/snack with the proper balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. I will give you an example of these choices to make during the day.
I like to take a minute and quickly mention something about portion sizes. Do you know what a serving of meat looks like? No, it’s not the 12 ounce Ribeye at your local steak house. A protein of meat is 3 ounces, the size of a woman’s palm.
VISUAL EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENT FOOD PORTIONS:
* 1 medium fruit — tennis ball or tight fist
* 1/2 cup of rice, pasta, cooked cereal, fruit, or veggie — cupcake size or tight fist
* 1 cup of salad — the amount you can hold in two hands cupped together.
* 1 medium baked potato — computer mouse
* 1 cup of cold cereal — large handful or tight fist
* 3 ounces of fish, meat or poultry — deck of cards or a palm of a woman’s hand
* 1 ounce of cheese — top half of your thumb or 4 dice
* 1 ounce of fish, meat, chicken or poultry — 1 egg
* 1 tsp — the tip of a medium-framed woman’s thumb. 3 tsp is equal to 1 tbsp
BREAKFAST:
It is important to start the day with a good breakfast. A good breakfast is needed to maintain level blood sugars throughout the morning. Try to keep breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same calorie count and then add two to three snacks between meals to make up the 5-6 recommended meals.
Choose an item from each of the food groups for a healthy balanced breakfast.
Protein: 1 cup low fat yogurt, 1 oz of low fat cheese, 1 cup nonfat milk, 1 hard boiled egg
Carbohydrate: 1 slice of whole grain toast, bagel or muffin, 1/2 cup of whole grain cereal or oatmeal, or granola bar.
Fruit: 3/4 cup of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, 1/2 banana, small apple, orange, grapefruit,
LUNCH AND DINNER:
Preparing lunch and dinner is very simple. Pick a lean protein, add some vegetables and top it off with some fruit for dessert.
Choose an item from each of the food groups for a healthy balanced lunch or dinner.
Protein: Lean beef, pork, beans, chicken, fish, turkey, etc.
Vegetable: Cauliflower, green beans, spinach, zucchini, broccoli, and salad greens, etc. For a serving size, fill about 1/2 of your plate with vegetables, 1/4 of your plate with healthy carbohydrates, and the other quarter with a lean protein.
Carbohydrate: Brown rice, corn, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, 1 slice of whole grain bread etc.
Dessert: Pear, apple, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup of strawberries or raspberries with a dollop of nonfat whipped topping.
SNACKS:
Snacks between meals are what make or break the weight loss. You need to maintain your metabolism in between meals so that you continue to burn calories throughout the day. For your snack, consume between 100 to 125 calories.
Choose an item from each of the food groups for a healthy balanced snack.
Protein: 1 oz. low sodium, low fat luncheon meat, low fat string cheese, hard boiled egg, small yogurt cup, 1/4 cup of low fat cottage cheese.
Carbohydrate: 1 slice of whole grain bread, 1/2 banana, apple, grapes, plum, baby carrots, etc.
Healthy fats: 2 tbsp of peanut butter, handful of almonds, walnuts cashews or mixed nuts, 1 slice of avocado.
Doesn’t this sound easy? These are just guidelines for healthy foods. You do not have to eat the same thing every day. There are so many more foods then what I listed here but be creative. Try a new fruit and vegetable every week. Remember, this is easy!

We usually associate eating with obesity. But eating per se is not the culprit. The real root cause is poor eating habits. One example is eating more and burning less. Our sedentary modern lifestyle encourages us to eat more yet exercise less. Another example is eating too much processed foods and meats and too less fruits and vegetables. Poor eating habits also include not eating at all. This type of habit is usually associated with those who want to lose weight. Yet this is not part of the healthy weight loss tips that we are going to discuss. What we are going to discuss is how to eat better in a balanced and wholesome way.
To eat is not a sin at all. The sin is eating too much or eating a lot of negative items that are detrimental to our health. Nevertheless, many persons have the mistaken belief that the habit of not eating is one of those quick and easy weight loss tips. This is a big mistake. By doing that, you do not only deprive your body with nutrients, you also endanger your health.
Regulate your meals. You should eat moderately, and more often you must have a cup of green tea. Chew your foods very well. And according to the latest research, you should keep on changing the category of your food menu. By doing all of these, you enhance your metabolism and digestion. By eating more often, you do not rest your metabolism and digestion. But do not stress your digestion by eating too much. Remember that stress can produce negative results. This also works on your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism rate is a best way to burn body fat. Then, you can expect of a lighter figure in return.
To eat your breakfast is a best way to burn fat. How? By eating early you are conditioning your metabolism and digestion early. Thus by having a breakfast you are making your metabolism efficient at the start of your day. On the other hand, skipping your breakfast conditions your metabolism and digestion to work slow and thus store on fats. This is really a scientifically tested diet plan that works.
Eat little but more often. By eating more often, you are signaling your digestive system and metabolism to go on working. If your body metabolizes continually, you also burn calories rapidly.
Include a cup of green tea in your diet. Research shows that drinking green tea helps in fat loss. Green tea has antioxidants that can rid of your toxins in the body.
Change your diet menu regularly. This is a best way to burn body fat. Do not go for one diet plan until you get thin. Because you may not get healthy by doing this. Instead change your diet often times. Be vegetarian for a couple of days and be try sea food for the next four days and so forth. Changing your diet can induce a shock in your digestive system and metabolism. Figuratively they will heighten their activity at an alert level. They will be faster and more on the go. If you do this, all the calories that went with your food intake will be burned. What will come next to this will be the burning of your unwanted fats.

Many people tend to equate weight loss with not eating. This is entirely untrue. While diet is a very important component of weight loss, this does not mean that we do not have to eat anymore. In fact, the high social pressure on being slim came to a point where people are already because they are already starving themselves to death. This is a psychological ailment called anorexia nervosa. We have to understand that there can be improper ways to diet also.
But balance is not so easily determined and achieved. Human beings are supposed to eat fresh vegetables, meats and fish, all in balance, in order to keep a healthy weight. The modern diet does not allow us the luxury to really be aware of what we are consuming each day -we’ve lost the balance and the natural sense to eat what our body really needs.
Having a diet plan that works should involve having absolute knowledge of the food we eat every day. The first step to being healthy is eating healthy. This is perhaps the easiest way to maintain consistent weight loss and a high standard of health.
Spread out your eating time. Diet also doesn’t mean cutting off our favorite food from your diet, not if it’s especially wholesome. As has been said before, the key to all this is balance. A way to start this is by changing eating habits. You can eat many times a day, but eating should be spread throughout the day. This means eating small doses of food for at least every 4 or 5 hours.
Eat a lot of good food and go away with junk food. Another way to lose weight is to stock up on tasty fruits and vegetables. The idea: Eat more weigh less. For instance, celery sticks, carrot sticks, little pieces of apples or pineapples, etc. You can eat all these for snacks until you’re full, but they won’t contribute much to weight gain.
Have more fruits and vegetables in your diet. You can actually eat more weigh less. The technique is actually to eat less of meats and fatty foods while you eat more fruits and vegetables. These are the foods that contribute nearly nothing to weight gain, yet can satiate your hunger healthily that junk foods and snacks. Fruits and vegetables are also, in the long run, cheaper than processed snacks and fast foods. Masticate your food well. Take time to chew your food well. This way, while you are eating, you are sending signals to your brain that you are already full. Thus you will not eat more that what is necessary.
The best way to burn body fat really is in watching what we eat. Think on it: You work hard, you’re active, you live a full life -but why then are you still not losing those pounds? Salt is the culprit. Salt stores fats in your body.
Go organic. This might require quite an effort, but would be a big step for a healthy weight loss. You see, with organic food, you’re assured that you are buying all natural ingredients that would really do great for your health.
Organic foods go through strict testing to get the organic label. For instance, for a farm to be organic, the soil has to undergo a cleansing from harmful chemical pesticides. This cleansing will go on for an average of 2 to 3 months, only then can real organic food be grown there.
Organic means all-natural, and they have strict policies on determining whether a particular product deserves the organic tag .So you’re assured of the quality of each food item you buy. Follow these healthy weight loss tips and you can never go wrong.
