When such a high percentage of the people are overweight it seems fitting that there is significant number of the population who are extremely image conscious. Perhaps this is in part to those health magazine covers with men and women who have desirable, health and fit looking bodies. As a result, gyms, health spas and other fitness centers have proliferated all over to cater to the needs of the fitness and body conscious enthusiasts.

Although to be honest, trying to avoid the subject is not easy with amount of advertising that goes on to promote diet fitness. But on the flip side of that coin is the importance of heating healthily and maintaining a weight to suit our size and shape. It is the food we eat in our diet and fitness program that will encourage a healthy body, as exercise will not restore damaged muscles or keep you healthy. What does not help the average person is what diet-fitness regime to follow as both seem to make sense; there is the one that says eat foods with high carbohydrate levels and the other which says you need to eat foods with a high fat content which appears to contradict everything we are told about dieting.

To understand this better you need to know that the high-carbohydrate followers believe that you need to eat foods rich in carbohydrates to exercise well and the opposition believe you need to consume foods high in fat. Those followers of eating foods with high carbohydrate content believe these are best owing to the amount of energy that can be stored in the muscles ready for instant release.

Whereas, fat is a rich source of calories with two and a half times more than proteins and carbohydrates while fat metabolizes in an eighth of the time it does for carbohydrates. However, whichever diet you use may depend on the type of activity you perform as well but the two diets are not to be mixed up unless you want to add extra pounds to your body mass.

All this is fine if you are exercising regularly but a diet fitness regime is also about reducing the body fat. To achieve this, research has shown that you need to think about how you are currently living your life which includes the type of food you like to eat and if there are any medical considerations.

The most successful diet fitness programs are tailored in such a way that the person does not even consider they are on a diet because they are able to eat in moderation. The important message here is experiment until you find the diet fitness method that suits you and then staying fit and healthy will be much easier and probably enjoyable.

Something else to consider as part of your diet and exercise plan is a colon cleanse.  It rids your body of nasty toxins and can reset your metabolism and digestive system into functioning properly again.
